Greetings from soundproof suite #4217 in Las Vegas. This city is everything HST cracked it up to be. Lots of rich, rude, and clueless hordes wandering down a strip specifically designed to create congestion at the chokepoints. Made pilgrimages to the Circus Circus, Riviera, didn't see the Mint Hotel, no one there seemed to know about the movie or looked at me suspiciously when I mentioned it.
Certainly an atavistic feeling to the place, with people sitting around the $100 blackjack tables at 8 in the morning and extremely scantily clad waitresses strutting around...
Ted Koppel signed off from Nightline last night. The BBC has
a story.
In an understated farewell, Koppel asked viewers to give his successors a chance.
"If you don't I promise the network will just put another comedy show in this time slot," he said. "Then you'll be sorry." |
