The Gear That Keeps London's Pirate Radio Hidden

E-mail Print PDF

Untraceable infrared links. Backpacks full of back-up transmitters. Cloak and dagger

Homemade antennas, hidden in plain sight on the tops of apartment complexes and

abandoned buildings, broadcast pirate radio throughout London. But while the antennas

themselves are conspicuous, the makeshift studios they link up to are hidden behind

soundproof walls and security gates. (more)

Interesting new CF Field Recorder

This looks like a nifty new device for quality, mobile 2 track recording with solid state goodness. The marantz PMD 660 is the new "little brother" to the marantz PMD 670. The 670 was used for the recordings at the cabin last May with great results.

if i can just finish all these other promises and obligations i've made to others. once i finish mixing this documentary about the holy modal rounders as a favor to a friend, i should be able to squeeze in a set by mid april, i hope. in the meantime, you can check out some info about a CD that i helped produce with my next-door neighbor, David Rothenberg. the CD is called "Why Birds Sing." i've got some tuba on one track. it accompanies a book with a synonymous name. check out the site. it's very well designed and should interest all humans who posess an ear or two.
